The View

August 10, 2009

This is one of the views I remember from my childhood…recaptured tonight as I walked my parents’ dog.  The sunsets always were incredible here.

We still have one more week of travel ahead of us.  I think another trip to the beach is in order!

Tara: Simply lovely!

Christine: Lovely flare... I love nature shots like these! :)

Sherr W: Absolutely breathtaking! Sigh!

Kristie Chadwick: Beautiful!

Cindy: I love how the golden hues blanket the field. The entire image speaks warmth and welcome to me.

ally breazeale: it's an amazing thing to capture a memory like this ~ gorgeous.

Stacie: That is so gorgeous.

Patsy Dunn: I think that it is amazing how the sun around here can turn EVERYTHING pink or gold. Definitely something that I love about this area. Great photo.

Hello!

I photographed an adorable little 2.5 year old girl last week.  But first I have a few important business items to cover.

  • July 22nd is the date set for the exciting   Day of Mentoring with Anna, Rebecca and myself in Salt Lake City.  Registrations went very quickly but we have a few spots that have just opened up.  All the details can be found here.
  • Free Photo Session up for grabs!  Rebecca and I are working together in Utah for a few days of sessions and we are conducting a location and model search.  If you are chosen we are offering a free Darling-Art photo session and a generous print credit in exchange.  Check here for all the information.
  • UK schedule for Dena Robles–it is getting close to summer travel time and I will be  working and (hopefully) relaxing in the States.  I am continuing to book sessions for the remainder of June and the first 2 weeks of July.  These bookings will be for my Signature Session only.  Signature Sessions are full length sessions for £550 and include a selection of up to 6 wall prints and 5 digital files of ordered prints.  I will make announcements for the autumn in August.

This is the cute, sweet, fun, and busy little Alice from last week.  She was very comfortable in front of my camera and showed me quite the variety of 2 1/2 year old attitudes.  She even took a few turns behind the camera as well.

This one is my favorite.

This one is just FUN.    I love how two year olds do everything they do with all their heart completely invested.  It is all or nothing.

I have already told you about my plans to team up with Rebecca for Darling Art starting this summer.  Well, we are also getting the wonderful opportunity to work with the incredibly talented Anna Jones of IndieArt Photography for a day or two of mentoring workshops this July in Utah!  Like most professional photographers, we field daily requests for mentorships and lessons.  It is about time we pooled our resources and gathered all these requests together, all in one place.  Here is what we are thinking:

A day of mentoring in Salt Lake City on either Tuesday, July 21st or Wednesday, July 22nd for people wanting to take their photography to the next level.  Participants will get a chance to watch (and participate in) a photo session and learn post-processing techniques from each photographer as well as ask all the questions they can think of.  The cost for a full-day of mentoring with all three of us would be around $500.

What we are hoping to find out is a) does this sound interesting?  b) what date works best for you (July 21st or the 22nd)?  and c) is there anything else you’d be interested in learning?   We would really, really love to hear from you.  Please leave your feedback either in the comments section at the Darling Art blog or email info@darling-art.com.  Only serious inquiries or feedback please.

I spent some time on Anna’s website this morning hoping to pick 1 or 2 favorites to share with you here.  Well, after nonstop TWO hours of ‘ooooh’  and ‘aaaaah’ I had finally narrowed it down to a list of 30 and was still going strong.  I adore the work she does with teenagers and adults and her magical use of light and color.  Check it out:

Here is a small sample of some of my favorites from Rebecca’s website.   Gorgeous as always.  Her subjects always seem so natural and at ease in front of her camera.

Rebecca: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Love the images - how is it that you can be so great shooting portraits, nature, *and* sea creatures!?!?!? Can I borrow some of that talent? Give the kids a squeeze from Auntie Reb and get some rest (only at night, of course!). We're off to L.A. for a few days . . . xoxo
