Regarding Cameron

For those of you who have not yet met Cameron, for those of you who miss him and for those of us who want to remember the little things that are so important right now, here is what you need to know.

Cam3

Cameron has had (since birth) the most amazing old-crotchety-man sneeze.  It starts with a big "Rawwwwwr"  then a pause, a pause…a pause…then his whole body shakes and his face contracts with a nice finish of "pascheeeeew."  Everytime.  I have captured it with my camera a few times, but not the video.  I am still trying!   His first toy and best friend, a gift from Aidan, is Lambert:

Lambert

His arsenal of blankets and cuddlies.  Two were Aidan’s, one was India’s, one was knicked from the hospital–just ‘cuz, one is a cashmere splurge on my part and one is his favorite…something old, something new, something borrowed…

Blanketbw

and for good measure, something BLUE.

Blanket

He purrs when he sleeps, he growls when he eats, he hums when he plays, he hollers when he burps–just for emphasis and he laughs when he sneezes.  Probably because we laugh everytime he sneezes.

His favorite song is "You are My Sunshine" as played by his other favorite toy, BlueDog, chosen by India:

Bluedog

Unless of course he is being serenaded by a gaggle of loving school children, their song of choice is "twinkle twinkle little star."  This suits him just fine and a more beautiful sound will never be heard.

He is four months old and nearly 13 pounds and nearly too big for his Moses Basket.

But he still loves to take his afternoon nap in it, just so he can flirt with the sunshine.

Afternoon

He shares his favorite well worn books with his big brother and sister and loves to be read to.

Books

He is loved intensely by said brother and sister and has gained a few nicknames from them.  Cammie, Camster Hamster, Cam, Mr. C, Cam-man the candy man, Peanut and of course Bubbaloo.  I call him my yummy lump o’ brown sugar.  I am often found munching on his cheeks, neck and tummy for a sweet treat and a good round of laughter.  Then there are the other nicknames that usually have to do with various sounds coming out of either end.  He has been: "Bubble N Squeak", "Grimace N Grunt", "Dribble N Squirt", "Grin N Giggle" and "Coo N a Cuddle."  Oh yeah, and then there is "the Anti-napper."   grrrrrrrr.

He loves to be held, rocked and danced with.  He is quick with a smile and a chatter for anyone he meets and doesn’t want to miss a thing.

3half

Mummy milk is still the best, but in a pinch sucking on hands can work for a few minutes, anyone’s hands…or ears or neck or chin.  He shows no interest in sitting or rolling and seems quite content to stay little for awhile longer and that is fine by me.  Most importantly, he is loved beyond belief and brings so much joy and purpose to our days and we feel pretty lucky to have him around.

And these are the things I want to remember.

Oh, he’s so sweet and yummy I can hardly stand it. And the images and words are just as sweet as the lump o’ brown sugar himself.

Thanks for the “gush” – you made my day!
